Working at Heights training -Refresher Course

Workers who use travel restraint systems, fall restricting systems, fall arrest systems, safety nets, work belts/safety belts are required to have the appropriate training to ensure personal safety in the workplace.

A program directed towards anyone who is exposed to fall hazards or who would like to become educated on the requirements of working safely at heights, providing an understanding of the OHSA and related regulations. Our Working at Heights program is Chief Prevention Officer Approved and is a Canadian Construction Associations Gold Seal Accredited Course.

Valid for 3 years. Prerequisite full WAH CPO approved certification that has not expired yet.

JHSC Certification, Part 1 Virtual via Zoom

A program that is designed for those who are to be a member of a Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) in their workplace. Topics covered include, but are not limited to: The Internal Responsibility System (IRS), Hazard Management, and Incident Investigations.

What is a joint health and safety committee?

A joint health and safety committee (JHSC) is composed of worker and employer representatives.

Which workplaces must have joint health and safety committees?

LEGISLATIVE REQUIREMENT:

No. of Workers: 1 to 5

You are not required to have a JHSC or a health and safety representative unless a designated substance regulation applies to your workplace.

No. of Workers: 6 to 19

You are required to have one health and safety representative who is selected by the workers they represent. If a designated substance regulation applies to your workplace, you are required to have a JHSC.

No. of Workers: 20 to 49

You are required to have a JHSC. The committee must have at least two (2) members.

No. of Workers: 50 plus

You are required to have a JHSC. The committee must have at least four (4) members.

JHSC Certification, Part 2 Virtual via Zoom

This program is to be completed within 6 months of the completion of JHCS Certification Part 1 training. It reviews key concepts of the JHCS Certification Part 1 training, practices the use of a hazard management tool, and the rights, duties, and responsibilities of the JHSC and Certified Members.

JHSC certification part 2 is a 2 day class. 8am-4pm. Classes are offered via Zoom , one day a week for two weeks.

Refresher class is required to maintain JHSC certification, should be completed before expiry of certification. Refresher is valid for 3 years. If you do not take this class prior to expiry of certification, you must re take parts one and two.
